Interact With The Universe!

Hi! Come visit me sometime!

Find a smile on your face with interactive databases from your ACC libraries! Just in time for Halloween, carve a cadaver, sliver a liver, break a heart apart--all with the Human Anatomy 3D interactive database! Or put together the fuel for an H-bomb, tour a volcano, or round the rings of Saturn with the Chemistry and Science interactive databases, new from Gale Interactive!

Human Anatomy

With Gale Interactive's Human Anatomy, you can pick a body part and then pick that part apart! Rotate it, dissect it, and view it close up, all in 3D. Explore the interrelationships between structures and organs. And take quizzes to reinforce your knowledge, transferring your new discoveries from your brain's pre-frontal lobe to its hippocampus!

Chemistry

Transform your reaction to chemistry from negative to positive with Gale Interactive's Chemistry, a surefire catalyst for exploring the central science. Delve into an interactive periodic table of the elements, practice balancing equations, and witness chemicals reacting, step by step. Or build your own custom atoms, subatomic particle by subatomic particle!

Science

Gale Interactive's Science database distinguishes itself with interactive modules on topics ranging from microbiology, paleontology, and zoology to astronomy and geology. Dissect everything from a corona virus to a frog in rotatable 3D. Journey to the center of the Earth, or visit canyons and volcanos on Mars. You can test your learning with quizzes, and even download models of everything from a human brain to a wooly mammoth skull for 3D printing!

If you’re ready to start experimenting, you can get access from the ACC library website. Go to A to Z list of Databases and click on the letter “G”. Find any of the Gale Interactive databases and get to dissecting! You can browse the activities, or search for a specific system or element depending on which database you select.

You can also get interactive on an iPad!

How to Download the App:

Step One: Open the Apple App Store on your iPad and search for “gale interactive”. Select the free app for Gale Interactive Human Anatomy, Science, or Chemistry and click “GET” to start the download.

Step Two: Once the download is complete open the app. The first time you log in you will see a prompt to locate your institution.  Once you select Austin Community College you can log in with your ACCeid and password.
