As it does each year during the first week of May, the American Library Association is highlighting the need we all have to protect our personal information during Choose Privacy Week. The theme of Choose Privacy Week 2019 is Inclusive Privacy: Closing the Gap, with a focus on underrepresented and vulnerable populations.
Included in the resources available on the Choose Privacy Week website is a great list of Tools to Protect User Privacy. A few of these tools include:
- Google Privacy Settings for Students
Guide to utilizing the privacy settings in your Google account - HTTPS Everywhere
Browser extension that encrypts your communications with many major websites, making your browsing more secure. - The Eight-Day Data Detox Kit
Guided program to determine your data footprint and make changes to protect your information online.
While it is a busy time of the semester, it is always important to think about personal data privacy and how you can best protect yourself and your information online.
